After a couple of years of building and quietly shipping MDViewer, I'm finally starting a blog. This is where I'll share what's new, what I'm working on, and anything useful I've picked up along the way about markdown, documentation, and building software for Windows.
What to expect here
- Release notes with context — not just changelogs, but the why behind new features and the tradeoffs I made.
- Markdown tips — patterns and techniques that work well in MDViewer and beyond.
- Documentation workflow guides — how to structure and maintain documentation for real projects.
- Development updates — what's on the roadmap, what I'm experimenting with, and honest notes on what didn't work.
A little background
MDViewer started as a personal tool — I needed something that could handle large markdown documentation trees without slowing down, render things cleanly, and stay out of the way. The Windows app ecosystem didn't have quite what I wanted, so I built it.
It's grown significantly since then. The MarkdownViewer.Controls embeddable component, PDF and Word export, the documentation hub mode — these all came from real workflows I (and users who reached out) actually needed.
Stay in the loop
The best way to follow along is to bookmark the blog or watch the GitHub releases page. No newsletter yet — maybe someday.
If you have a feature request, a workflow you're trying to solve, or just want to say hello, the Support page has ways to reach me.
